Three things to be clear about, because they are the ones most easily oversold:
- Account and document review is done by our own team. A person at Hustl looks at what you submit before the account goes live. That is a real check and we will call it verification — but it is not external-provider KYC, and nobody, including us, should call it "KYC verified".
- The payout is released by our team, not by a gateway. The payment gateway is not integrated yet, so a person at Hustl releases the transfer to your linked UPI ID once you have completed the shift and submitted your rating. That is the one part of the flow that is not production-grade.

How does Hustl plan to make money, and what does it collect today?
The model is a transparent platform fee on the partner side. When a shop, café, or warehouse posts a shift, they pay two things: the worker's pay, and a separate fee to Hustl for running the marketplace that finds and fills the shift. The worker's pay goes to the worker in full.
Today, that fee is not being collected. Verified Partners post real shifts during the beta using free beta credits, and paid partner collections — including the Razorpay integration that would take that payment — are not live. So the honest answer to "how does Hustl make money" as of August 2026 is: it does not, yet. It is running an open beta to find out whether the model works before charging anyone for it.

The fee is designed to sit on the partner side because the business is the one buying the service. There is no agency retainer, no cut sliced off your pay, and no "registration charge". If you ever see an app where the worker is the one paying to get hired, that is a red flag. Close the app.
Do workers ever pay anything to use Hustl?
No. There is no joining fee for a worker account, browsing shifts costs nothing, and booking a shift costs nothing. The pay shown on the shift listing is the amount that reaches your linked UPI ID once you have completed the shift and submitted your rating. Hustl does not take a commission out of that amount. That holds when a friend brings you in as well — joining on someone's referral code costs nothing either, and nobody at Hustl will ask you or them to pay to activate one.
Compare that with the old way a lot of people in Chennai have searched for "part time velai". You call a number from a poster near Velachery or T. Nagar, and somewhere along the line there is a "deposit", a "uniform fee", or a "placement charge". Hustl was built to kill that pattern. The money moves toward the worker, never away. - Is there a record that the shift happened? On Hustl, check-in is authorised by the Partner's rotating QR code, with location such as accuracy and distance recorded when your device supplies it. Check-out is authorised by the Partner's rotating six-digit OTP. Partner and admin overrides exist for the cases where those fail, and they are recorded separately because they carry different evidence.
- Is the pay shown upfront and paid to a traceable account? Hustl shows the pay on the listing and sends it to the UPI ID linked to your account after you complete the shift and submit your rating.
- Are they honest about what stage they are at? This page is that test. Public beta, manual team verification, payouts released by our team, no store apps yet.

- Verification is done by people, not a provider. A person at Hustl reviews your account and your documents before they go live. No external verification provider is involved, and nothing automated stands in for that human review.
- Some steps have fallbacks. If QR or OTP cannot be used on site, a Partner or admin override can record the check-in or completion instead. That is a different kind of evidence, and it is logged as such.
You are not a test dummy. You are an early worker doing real work for real pay on a platform that is being honest about being young. But nothing on this page is a guarantee of shifts, hours, or earnings.
How does Hustl record that a shift really happened?
With named evidence rather than a slogan. When you arrive, your self-check-in is authorised by the Partner's rotating QR code — the code changes, so it cannot be screenshotted and reused from home. If your device supplies location at that moment, the system also records proximity evidence such as accuracy and distance from the shift location. When you finish, your self-check-out is authorised by the Partner's rotating six-digit OTP, and check-out may also record location or photo evidence.
That is deliberately more specific than "GPS verified", because "GPS verified" would not be true of every shift. Location is corroborating evidence recorded when it is available; the QR and the OTP are what actually authorise the two ends of the shift. Where a Partner or an admin has to step in and record a check-in or a completion manually, that override is stored separately, precisely so nobody can later present it as the same proof.
On top of the attendance record there are ratings and reviews after shifts, which build up over time. Your own rating submission is also part of what releases your pay, so the loop closes on the same record that builds your reputation.
Who is behind Hustl, and what has actually happened so far?
