We think you should be able to trust a number before you act on it. So here is exactly where the data in our posts comes from, and where it does not.
We are early, and honest about it
Hustl is an early-stage company, still completing registration, and live in public beta in Chennai. Real Hustlers and real businesses sign up, our team verifies every account and its documents by hand, verified businesses post real shifts, and real Hustlers book, work and are paid for them. Our founder also operates retail stores, so we run the product on real shifts ourselves. That gives us genuine first-party data, small, but real.
Our own numbers come with sample sizes
When we share a figure from our own platform, average shift pay, how quickly a shift fills, ratings, it comes from completed shifts, and we show the sample size and time period next to it. A number from a handful of shifts is labelled as exactly that. We never present a small sample as a population-wide claim.
To be concrete about the one dated extract we hold: between 14 and 21 June 2026, before the public beta opened, we ran a pilot of 4 accounts and 3 completed shifts, paying around ₹450 each, with our first rated hustler at 4.7 stars across three reviews. That snapshot is a historical record of that week only. It is not our current performance, and we do not present it as one.
One number we deliberately do not publish as a statistic is payout speed. Hustl is in public beta and the payment gateway is not integrated yet, so each payout is released by our team rather than automatically. The timings we quote elsewhere on this site describe how we operate today, not a measured median from a dated sample. When settlement moves to a payment provider and we can measure it properly, we will publish the method alongside the number.
Market figures come from cited public sources
For the big-picture numbers, the size of India's gig economy, how many workers are students, growth forecasts, we cite public research such as the NITI Aayog policy brief on the platform economy, the International Labour Organization, and the India Skills Report. Pay ranges for Chennai roles are typical figures from public job boards and vary by employer.
What we will not do
We do not invent surveys, fabricate testimonials, or round a small number up into a headline. If we do not have real data for a claim, we say so or leave it out.
