For a first tutoring demo, teach one small idea well enough to see what the learner understood. Trying to cover a whole chapter can hide whether your explanation worked.
Confirm the subject, level, language, duration and materials with the parent, adult learner or coordinator beforehand. If you are teaching a child, agree the setting and communication arrangements with the parent or responsible adult.
NCERT's learning-outcomes material describes learning through progress that can be observed and assessed. Use that idea to choose an outcome small enough for your demo.
An original twenty-minute plan
This is an illustrative format, not a prescribed lesson length.
- Opening, three minutes: ask the learner to attempt a simple starting question.
- Explanation, five minutes: demonstrate one example and say why each step matters.
- Shared practice, five minutes: let the learner explain the next attempt.
- Independent attempt, five minutes: offer a similar question with changed details.
- Close, two minutes: describe what was understood and what needs more practice.
The time allocations total twenty minutes. Adjust them to the actual agreement and the learner's pace.

Use a concrete outcome
For a basic fractions demo, your outcome might be: “The learner can show one-half using equal parts and explain why unequal pieces don't demonstrate the same idea.”
Choose a topic within your knowledge and the learner's curriculum. Don't use the demo to promise exam marks or rapid improvement.

Afterwards, record three lines: what the learner could do independently, where they needed help and what you would teach next. Share an appropriate summary with the responsible person. Avoid publishing the learner's work, image or details as promotional material without permission.
